     A day at the Paia Laundramat on Maui got creative. It's a Paia landmark. I've been going there since the late 70's when we lived in the jungle and would have to get in the VW bug with the kids and the dog....and the laundry! One time we'd done tons of laundry and had kerosene for the lamps and ice for the cooler...plus food. I had the white clothes on top, everything folded nicely. Then we couldn't make it up the hill going home because the dirt road was slick and muddy, and the ruts were deep. It was sprinkling.... The dog jumped out first, then the kids...then me. Everyone was pushing, except the dog. She said,'they don't need me', and jumped back in thru the window and sat on the nice warm piles of clean clothes with, you guessed it....muddy paws. I grabbed the dog by the neck.   I think I'd had it! The kids were pulling my pig tails and the dog was chocking. The kids were screaming and pounding my back to stop. They begged me not to kill their dog. I loved the dog.....oh the pain of life! I had to go back the next day and wash the same white clothes etc from the day before.
    Thank you Paia Laundramat for being there!   A place of sanity and cleanliness....yeah! (smile)
